My friend and I visted Texas. we went to Dallas, Houston, And ended up on the beach in High Island. Small town, not much there but the beach, but it was worth it and beautiful.

We come in to Galveston from I10 124/87 on thePort Bolivar Ferry SE Texas from SW Louisiana Lafayette I10 RT90 Morgan City Houma,LA. From Beaumont to High Island, Crystal Beach- Bolivar Peninsula about 1 1/2 hours.
This is not a route that older people traveling with me enjoyed. They were not afraid of my driving rather the rural cattleland livestock pretty much is what you see and lots of water. You need to have a reliable newer vehicle because there are limited gas stations and very limited access to medical facilities. It is a very beautiful scenic route IF YOU DO NOTGETDIZZY, ARENOTAFRAID OF WATER, AND DO NOTGETDISORIENTED. There is water pretty much around you and you are traveling along the Gulf of Mexico. This is a tropical destination. There is lots of law enforcement so safety is not an issue. Older vehicles are not recommended. As you travel back to Southwest Louisiana you will cross plenty briges which you I recommend only reliable vehilces travel this route. Otherwise stay on I10. From my own experience Surrounded by water makes some travelers dizzy and carsick— which can ruin your vacation. Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana is in my soul. I feel right at home in these parts also Monterrey. Only there is no beaches, bayous, ferries, gulf of mexico in Monterrey. I would travel to any part of Southwest Louisiana including from New Orleans along the Gulf of Mexico to Veracuz in land to Monterrey or along the Gulf of Mexico’s Galveston Island’s Bolivar Peninsula inland to Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Juarez, Monterrey. Both of these are trips I would make any chance possible. They are always an adventure, fun, exciting, interesting, exploring, and they are Home. From Louisiana to Texas Texas was once Mexico too before The Alamo in San Antonio and the Annexation of Texas. : – )
