Silver Lake was inexpensive (for L.A.) maybe 10 years ago, but then it got cool, and then it got expensive.

That said – there are always exceptions – i live in a rent control apt – two bedrooms for $950 – which is considered really cheap here. I think it is usually $600-$700 for a studio apt.

i’d say you might want to try and live near where your internship is going to be. That way you can avoid driving all the time, which helps make L.A. much nicer. Tell me where your internship is and i’ll try and suggest neighborhoods that might be close and nice.
