Not worth it!

complete disappointment!  — 1 year ago

there is something wrong with the men in this country. a horrible place for women. some dirty smelly guy offered my father 70 camels or something like that in exchange for me! a cab driver harassed my mother and that was pretty scary. even though we stayed in a holiday resort, my stomach couldn’t handle the food. the only safe thing to eat was the cheese pizza!
oh and there is some kind of stench wherever you go in tunis which wasn’t that easy to get used to.
also you have to bargain for anything you buy. the final sale will always be at least a quarter of the original price! the only good thing, besides witnessing a desert rain, was that we brought back lots of exotic home decor items which cost almost nothing.

I just feel you are talking about another country…
Reading your message made laugh too, the men who wanted to exchange 70 camels for you were to my opinion kidding, although you may be a marvel or a stunning beauty, then even in France, Canada, or Japan, people (men) will be trying to have you at any cost :)

By the way, you only meet “camel men” in the desert and around, which is in the far south of the country. The desert is a place for tourists, men there (and women) live in isolation for the society or at least the rest of the tunisians, so they may offer camels even for frankenstein’s finacĂ©, as long as it’s a female :p

To make things even more clear, about bargains, this happens in the souks and other tourists traps, I hope you noticed that there are shops where you can buy everything at fixed prices! fixed prices are the rule everywhere else outside tourists traps!

When I was living in Montreal, I never said that people are dumb there because they have no geography knowledge, are insulars, so self-centered and closed, although I met such kind of people! The reason behind that is that I just avoid to make such silly general statements, knowing that all canadians, quebecois etc, are not like that!

Cheers!
