Well, you can go by boat or plane. However, a new way to get across is opening up. They just finished creating a super ferry, which will take you in your vehicle across neighboring islands for a reasonable cost. For more info, google “Hawaii Super Ferry.”

Pay the $29/each way and take a plane. Thats the way all the tourists and the locals travel.

I’d book it ahead of time if you can catch some of the steeply discounted fares. If the planes are full, the fares will skyrocket.

Its amazing that the ferry concept didnt take off in Hawaii in the beginning. Its been a big hit in washington state and alaska. I dont know how anyone gets by without them.

I’d also recommend looking around and comparing the airlines; a lot of the companies that just do island hops have frequent flyer deals with the bigger carriers so you can get miles on the bigger carrier for your inter-island flights. I think Aloha Airlines is an affiliate of American but I’m not sure. I wish I done the ferry; I hate to fly :)

Flights are quick, 20 minutes tops usually. Sign on as a member with Hawaiian airlines and they offer great prices at a discount. It is usually $19.00 to island hop, but now and then they reduce or raise it to make up the differences. Recently it was $9.00 to island hop with GO! airlines….I think with Aloha Air too, but that didn’t last long.
They are working on a ferry to shuttle cars back and forth…but if you don’t have a car/moped you need to take, the flight is the best.

Fly. There are super cheap flights that go from island to island a few times each hour. It’s easy, inexpensive, and quick, too. I mean, you could take a boat or a ferry, but it’s probably about the same price and flying is so much quiker. Also, you get great views!

Yes, some of the airlines have great frequent flyer things, too. One airline…can’t remember which one…gives you a free flight after four or something like that.

I guess you could always swim, too…

When I am in Hawaii I normally fly from island to island. There are now 3 iner island companys which is making tickets more competative. The flight is normally around $20-$30 one way and depending on which island you are going to can take from 20 minutes to 45 minutes. There are also boats and some charter helicopters, but it is so easy to just jump on a plane and get there in less then an hour. Remember that some of the best times to fly are early in the morning or latest flight out and weekdays are best (everyone wants to travel on the weekend)
