Worth visiting!

Untitled

The building was built without the use of any nails. All of the wooden beams are held together with wooden pegs. This, I am told was done to enhance the acoustics.

The acoustics of this place are marvelous. You can stand in the back of the Tabernacle and literally hear a pin dropped at the podium.

The building has been undergoing seismic stabilization, which is almost complete.

Shirley, you jest

Yes there’s a major fault line that runs along the base of the mountains along the east side of the city.

The fault line hasn’t had any major slippage in the last century, but we do get a lot of minor earthquakes. I’ve been told that the Salt Lake area is a lot like the LA basin when it comes to potential for seismic activity.

In some areas you can see the fault. It runs not too far from my house as a matter of fact.

And surely I’ll stop calling you Shirley. :-)
