The city has a nice center portion with the roundabout with the statue however I found the city to be a little strange. The afican american community lives in the poor area and the crime is bad. The city is like a huge midwestern suburb and there is no art scence or unique culture other the the Indy 500 and the Hoosiers. If you like sports this may be a place for you.

there is a wonderful art community in indianapolis… we are the home of john herron school of fine arts, there is the indianapolis art center, the indianapolis musuem of art, several art galleries, and support other arts such as music and literature. indiana is the midwest and not a large city compared to los angeles or new york, but we are a melting pot and we do have many cultures contributing to the community here. african americans live in all areas of indianapolis… not just “poor areas”. on the other hand, european americans live in “poor areas”, too. perhaps you only stayed for a short time and didn’t get to explore the city. you were right about one thing… it is a great place for sports fans!
