I was there in 2002 before the Hurricane. I stayed on Magazine Street in the Garden District (one of the few safe nice areas of town). I was impressed with the art and culture of the city. The city is also very condensed and easy to walk or ride a trolley. I thought the city had a ton of personality and great music, food and hospitality.
