The surfing is good...
...when the Great Whites aren’t in. Visit Monte Verde…in the mountains. There is an old Quaker colony there (from World War II, I believe). The cloud forest is beautiful.

Don't be afraid of the sharks
They really don’t bother too many people. When I’ve gone night scuba diving I usually see one or two. They are curious, but they tend to keep their distance. It is actually a real adrenaline rush to have one swim beside you at night. I worry more about the morays. Now those guys scare me. But they are so cool, and they will eat Vienna sausages right out of your hand.
Sorry for the scare. If the sharks bother you, just give them a good punch in the nose. That usually deters them.

Really if I saw a shark in the same water as me, I really think I would die. Like really seriously literally DIE, heart stop beating, no more breathing, dead!! Such a HUGE fear!!
Morays hadn’t thought about those. Can those hurt you, or do they just creep you out?

I don’t think morays bother people (unless people bother them). Read “Challenging the Deep, Thirty Years fo Undersea Adventure.” I forget the author…but it is a very good book to read before you dive, surf, swim. There is one incident with a moray in that book…but everything turns out fine. Have fun. Don’t worry about sea “monsters”...they are worse in the imagination than they are in the ocean.

If you want to come on down here to surf, just do it!!!
I use to surf (not to often, but I do) and I never have seen a shark. So, don´t worry about them, worry about the “cocodrilos” when they get to the ocean!!!! lol, just kidding!!!
There´re a lot of great points to learn surfing (safe, good waves, clean water, sand no reef, and good sufing schools) and is not necesary to bring your own board, you can rent a board or get an used one (or brand new) for a really good price!!!!
I hope to see you surfing soon ;) there´re no words to descibe how is it!!! when you learn, you´ll see how it feels!

Did you take it? Ya I do really want to surf down there. Well attempt to anyway. The water is pretty clean and clear isn’t it? I think that will help me feel better. Thanks for all the great points!! :o)

Yes, it´s a nice pic, it´s not mine. The beach is called “Avellanas” (I used to work in another beach near to Avellanas) and this beach is a really good place to surf…
You have a lot of thing to do!!! remember to tell you something about dolphins!!! I gotta go now (well… I´m pretty lazy, I don´t like to write in English to much :P

Long time...!
How have u being? I´ve being pretty busy, that´s way I didnt write u before, but i´m going this week to surf, finally !!! :) So, I´ll ask about what´s the best time of the year to see dolphins and whales, it´s really cool to see whales, I´ve seen twice (like 250, 300 feet from the coast), i´ll tell you next week and I´ll show you some pix!!!
