North Georgia Mountains by kcato

I constantly want to go to the mountains. I live in Southeast Georgia, where it is flat as a pancake. I love the mountains and always want to visit there every chance I get

Give us a hand, would ya, please?

You may have come across some of my posts. I’m posting places around my part of Georgia. It started sort of as a sort of dry or wry joke, putting up places such as Dean’s Crossing, an intersection of three roads, Green Cypress Church, Bay Church Road, and Routes 301/25.

I figured it would be interesting to examine these ordinary spots with a fresh eye, looking for their history, their folk lore, the magic still hidden within the place name. When you’ve got all these folks dreaming of places such as Timbuktu, Angkor Wat, Angel Falls, and Paris, it’s sort of a hoot to put up Toombs County, Statesboro, and the Farmers’ Market in Glennville. And we get to have a little home country pride as well!

Won’t you join me? I’d love to learn about the little or large, famous or infamous, ordinary or mysterious places of Appalachia, Southwestern Georgia, and other places beyond the Ohoopee, Savannah, and Altamaha Rivers. I challenge you to put up at least one place every day, maybe one place a week, whatever you can do.

See my next posting, Ogeechee Farms.
