You would be foolish to go to Italy without going to Venice. I went in December, which I think was an excellent time to go because it was not overcrowded with tourists. I loved everything about it—gorgeous views, great art museum (Peggy Guggenheim), fantastic food, lovely wine bars, extraordinary main sights (St. Mark’s Cathedral and Rialto Bridge), peaceful atmosphere, very friendly people.
