Worth visiting!

Lots of firsts

I am presently in Misawa, Japan, staying with my brother and his family on the AFB. So far I have been to the farmer’s market, bought a beautiful kimono, swam in the Pacific Ocean for the first time, had my first sushi, ate my first fried squid, been in a traditional Japanese house, and last night, felt my first earthquake!

There is much more that I will get to see and do here, since I still have 6 more days to experience Japan. It is beautiful here, lush and green and the weather has been lovely.

Good! Fresh squid in Misawa is one of very famous and curious articles.
Have you already tried “Onsen”, a thermal bath? I think there is a small onsen near the Misawa airport.

Onsen

No, I haven’t had the “onsen” experience, not sure if I will get to, but it sounds worth trying. And yes, there is one near here. I have heard, however, that the Japanese women giggle at the sight of us Americans in the bath houses, I guess our bodies look really strange to them.

Are you still around in Japan?
I feel sorry for you…It’s extremely regrettable that the Japanese people tend to giggle at people from other countries.
I sometimes think Japan has a closed culture and so people are overcurios about someone or something “non-Japan”. Very poor mind.

Have a great time for the rest of your stay in Japan ;-)

going home

I leave this morning to go back home to the U.S. I didn’t get to go to the onsen, (perhaps if my sister-in-law had tried it before and wasn’t apprehensive about it we would have gone) but I had many other wonderful experiences here.

Nice! It looks you got a beautiful and traditional pattern of kimono. So Wonderful.
I have been there(your blog). You have visited not only Misawa but also other places, haven’t you? I hope you had an enjoyable trip.
If there is a next time you come to Japan, let’s go to a green tea ceremony in this kimono ;-)

will do

If I ever travel to Japan again, I would love to go to a tea ceremony! Also would like to try the onsen…my visit was too short to do it all.
