The best day I had during my four months living in Dakar ended with a stop at Patisserie Medina. I had walked all the way from Suffolk University in Mermoz to Centre-ville where I bought some gifts for my family (Dad loves his Diouf jersey!)
When I was ready to go home, I headed over to grab a car rapide back to Mermoz, only to decide that it might be less hot to walk in the sun than to be crammed in a car rapide with 20 or so other people for a half an hour. I turned around and began the walk back home. Halfway there I came upon the Patisserie Medina, a place I had only been once before after a late night out a Just 4 You.
Once inside in the air conditioning staring at cases of creme puffs and pastries, I knew I had made the right choice. AND I could eat my desert guilt free after all that walking!
