Uniontown

Worth visiting!

born and raised. . .

Well, being from Fayette County might be considered a setback for many. We’re backward, we have distinctive accents, we have no big cities. The closest cultural experience is 60 miles north in Allegheny County, where one finds Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The point is that it’s one of many slices of Americana. I know I’m biased because I call it home (and believe me, when I’m old enough, I’ll be finding my way the hell out) but it can honestly be interesting. My hometown of Uniontown has good bands and a few good people. You can walk the streets and find small things of joy, like abandoned toys and clothes. It’s dead, but it’s beautiful in a way. You can drive around the backcountry aimlessly and happen upon abandoned houses and farms and rolling hills covered in forest. It can be nice sometimes. It’s a nowhere place, but it can be nice.
