Kobe is one of nice places to visit. You can make a little side trip to Kyoto for sightseeing.

Depends on what you mean by “Kobe region”!

If you mean only Kobe, then I have to disappoint you – although Kobe is a very nice place to live, they don’t have tons of sightseeing-worthy stuff. But there are still some nice places, like: Ijinkan (early 20th century Western buildings where the first foreigners settled), Rokko Island (modern manmade island with shops, museums, theaters, etc.), Harbourland (big area with shops, restaurants, movie theaters, amusement park, etc.).
