I am SO keen to go on one of their swamp walks.

SWAMP WALKS

Call the park for dates and times. Tour fee is $25 per person, reservations required. Limited to groups of 15. Explore a unique swamp forest with a trail guide. Since there is no path, you will wade waist deep through Cypress forest and pond-apple sloughs. The walk requires four hours of fairly strenuous hiking and wading. See beautiful, rare tropical plants. Share the swamp with Florida black bears, otters, minks, and Florida panthers. Long pants and secure footwear a must. Bring food, water and insect repellent.

Oh yeah

I’m sure there are loads of gators. And snakes. And spiders. (Those actually creep me out more than anything else) I’ve thought about it a lot though, and I’d still love to do it. How better to learn about the ecosystem than that?

...then count me in!

Spiders don’t bother me that much. I would imagine that they are pretty careful to avoid large reptiles in the swamps.

It looks kind of creepy, wading through the swamp like that, but I might try it once. Mrs. Viii would probably want to wait in the car, or maybe hit the mall. :-)

I’m doing my sophmoric attempt at humor. All this “kinda people” talk just got my wit saw out.
Kunta Kinte was the name of the fellow from “Roots” a mini-series that may have been before your time. It starred Levar Burton.
Kunta Kinte’s kinda people just had too much alliteration in it for me to pass up.
