While Mendoza is very wine focused, it’s not just about wine. The food, outdoors, and scenery is majestic. Lots of outdoor activities too. And, if you want to learn to love wine - like OLD people do - this might be a good place to start

Hardly share your distaste. Spent 2 weeks there studying Spanish and while I was not pleased with the Spanish school, I liked Mendoza very much. There is spectacular scenery nearby, the wineries make for several fun afternoons, and the city itself has some fine restaurants and shops. As for the bus station, by comparison to the US or most of Latin America, it is pretty well organized and quite safe.
