Manaus and the Amazon region are pretty close to the equator and so the weather is more or less the same all year, so it doesn’t matter much what time you go if you are worried about the weather. The only difference I can think of is that it rains a little more in Jan-Jun and it’s a little hotter than normal Sept-Nov. If it were me, I’d avoid the holiday peak seasons between Dec-early March (carnaval) and July.

June. Be sure to visit Parintins for the Festival of the Boi.
You will have to take a boat for about a day and 1/2 to get there from Manaus but the boat ride is one HUGE fun party. You will have to buy a hammock for yourself to sleep on this boat though….and you will be in a room filled with others sleeping on their hammocks as well.

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Hi,

The best time to visit the Amazon region, I would say, is during boreal winter. Unlike some people might guess, Manaus lies in the Northern Hemisphere. Even though it is near the equator, there is a rain season that goes from january through may and it is during this period that one can see a lot of water, lots of wild life and the so called “pororoca” phenomenon. It occours when the intense river flow encounters the tide waves from the sea, especially during full moon and new moon (also in september).

So, do not forget that this year is an “El Niño” year, and conditions could be different.

Enjoy yourself and have fun!
