Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

I never thought my native language would sound cool… until I heard of the Gauchos in Argentina. Last night I listened to a documentary about them.

I mean there are real, live cowboys, complete with big horses, baggy trousers and those big, flat, round, Argentinian cowboy hats… who speak a Northern Welsh dialect with an extremely strong Spanish accent. How cool is that?

I learnt a new Welsh word from the documentary: “Gawchera”. Apparently “Gaucho” is often interpreted as a “rough man on a horse” but it actually means “friend”. So, “gawchera” actually means to go and help someone (typically on horseback.) It even sounds Spanish. ;-)

I just have to go and see this at some point in my life.
