A friend and I visited India this summer, and she had never been there – so I picked out ‘must see’ sights I could take her to.
Here’s what we visited:
Mumbai
-Mani Bhavan (Gandhi’s home in Mumbai)
-Haji Ali Tomb
-Gateway of India
-Colaba Street (for good shopping)
Jaipur
-Jantar Mantar: This place is amazing! It is a astronomy park built in the 1400s and uses huge sci-fi looking structures to map and follow the sun, planet, moon and even Earth orbits.
-Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds)
-Choki Dhani (a traditional Rajesthani restaurant in a village setting)
Delhi
-Qutub Minar
-Akshardham
-Rajghat (Gandhi’s Memorial and final resting place)
-Bahai Lotus Temple (gorgeous lotus-shaped temple)
-Lal Qila (Red Fort)
Agra
-Taj Mahal
Alot of this is very close to one another and can be seen within one day. Let me know if you need anything else!

Thanks for all the suggestions, a bunch of people thought the astrology park was pretty cool, so I think I’ll try to check it out when I’m there. The lotus temple sounds pretty neat also.

I strongly recommend checking out the lotus temple (even if you don’t go inside, it is gorgeous even from a distance)
I also recommend the Taj Mahal (obviously). New Delhi can be quite difficult and overwhelming with all the people offering to sell you things or take you places to shop. I know there is a great licensed governmentally owned handicraft shop in New Dehli, but we could never get a rickshaw driver to take us there, they always took us to the places that they received a kickback for bringing tourists.
Have a great time,
