Barbados

Worth visiting!

Exciting First Night  — 2 years ago

My friends and I decided to go to Barbados, and we took a’cat in the bag’ sort of arrangement, i.e. we got an extremely cheap package including return flight and one week (of two)of some sort of mistery accomodation. So, we got two nice bungalows both with kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms with bathrooms, in Holetown, a place north of Bridgetown. Niiiiice. And as it usually goes, being new to the place, we went out the first night to the nearest bar. After drinking a gallon of vodka pineapple we went to sleep. When baaang! in the middle of the night a rumble and shouting woke me up.Still kind of groggy and totally disoriented and shocked, and since I was shearing the room with my best friend, I looked around to see where he was…Lifted in the bed, it was like in a cartoon, I could see a kind of straight path from the bedroom trough the living room and trough the opened main and porch doors…In that state my perception was that my friend jumped out of the bed and ran out, savagely shouting. My first thought was…Oh my God, what will I tell to his mom at home,...he lost his mind and ran in his underware into the night…:) I went out to the garden infront of the bungalow, and the shouting was still echoing in the distance…After five or ten minutes, he came back and told me what happened. A noise woke him up and when he opened his eyes, there was a face staring at him ten inches away.He started to yell, jumped out of the bed and chased the intruder out of the house and around the neighborhood. After the burglar jumped across a 6’ wire fence and surely leaving some tissue on it, my friend, now probably already thinking clearly, stopped, becoming aware of the potential danger… The thing is, that all the bungalows have a safe deposit box in the wardrobe beside the bed, and probably the local crooks knowing that, try to get newcomers offguard and hope to get lucky the first night… At the end of our vacation, we realised that was just an unfortunate one time incident, that actually wasn’t unfortunate at all – we had a great story to tell at home!!...all well what ends well. In fact, apart of some dark alleys in the capital, Bridgetown, in the middle of the night (what would you be doing there?) Barbados is one of the safest, nicest and friendliest places on earth.
The second week we stayed in St.Lawrence Gap (south) and it was just great!!
