Bethany Beach
Why I recommend this place to visitors
Bethany Beach is part of what is known as “The Quiet Resorts” of Delaware. Small-town atmosphere which is especially attractive to families. This is because families can stay in the relative peace and quiet of Bethany Beach but still make quick trips to Ocean City, Maryland and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware to let the kids expend their excess energy at the boardwalk arcades and rides in those towns.
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and numerous bays.
Bethany is part of a seven-mile stretch of sandy, Atlantic ocean beaches in the southeastern Delaware.
The water is warm enough to swim in from approximately Memorial Day through mid October or so.
Bethany Beach’s 1/2-mile long boardwalk features a wide variety of shops, restaurants, basketball and volleyball, video arcades, walking and so much more – something for everyone.
Bethany Beach features regular concerts and performances on the boardwalk bandstand in the center of town, the annual Fourth of July Parade, the annual Boardwalk Arts Festival, and Surf fishing tournaments.
Bethany Beach is virtually surrounded by water, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Indian River Bay and Assawoman Bay to the west, and the Indian River Inlet to the north.
Bethany’s guarded beaches provide swimming, sun bathing and beach combing during the day.
In the evening, you can go surf fishing and kite flying on the beach, watch performances on the bandstand, shop in the downtown stores, and take a leisurely stroll on the quarter-mile boardwalk.
Fishing, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing are the main activities in the nearby bays.
Other activities in Bethany Beach include water sports of all kinds including beach activities, fishing and boating.
