Not worth visiting!

A review of this place

I’m not the sitting-on-the-beach type, which is about all there is to do on Malta. I did enjoy the day-cruise I went on (we saw a couple dolphins!), but I’m not heading back. Also, there isn’t really much beach, if you are the beach-sitting type. A lot of the island ends in sudden cliff drop-offs instead of pretty beaches.

The water was beautiful though, and we had some good food. And there is some great shopping: silver/gold filligre and lace stuff (fans, parasols, etc).

I’m editing this to add, I only saw St. Julian and Valetta, and I spent most of my time in St. Julian, which is mostly a beach and a bunch of clubs. We went to one museum, which was ok. There may be interesting museums and such in other towns, but I didn’t see them. :/

Oh, I forgot: The elephant landmark from the Count of Monte Cristo is a part of Malta, as is the treasure cove and Chateau d’If, and the village from the original Popeye movie.

Disagree with what you said :- “sitting-on-the-beach …., which is … all there is to do on Malta” cos there are towns, museums and artistically-rich churches to see.

In fact I agree when you said :- “Also, there isn’t really much beach,...The water was beautiful though”

Sorry to hear you only got as far as st. julians; Malta is brimming with history and culture. We’ve got the oldest free-standing man-built structures in the wolrd which are really fascinating. Then there’s Valletta, our beautiful Baroque city which can only fail to impress people with an insensitive eye. Also our sense of folkore is still very strong anywhere you go – don’t tell me you missed the village festa to spend monotonous nights out in the St. Julians’ clubs!
Tip for your next holiday: maybe a little research on your destination before you actually leave home will assure you a more enjoyable stay…
