Climbing Mt. Everest is a “classic” life goal, but I have a (healthy?) fear of death that makes me want to set a more realistic goal. I would like to travel to base camp at Everest and volunteer/work for the teams that are actually attempting to reach the peak.

In this way, I can say that I’ve been on Everest, that I have participated in climbs of Everest, and (I think) performed a valuable service to those who are try to reach the summit.

As a side goal, I have heard stories about the large amounts of trash that get generated by climbing teams/camps. I would like to help out in the effort to reduce that trash, as well.

What I like most is that you're willing to clean up

So many people want to “conquer” a peak, and they do end up with a sense of victory but also having trashed the place.

I’ll cheer your goal! Be safe then and now too!

Thats my plan too. I hope to climb just to somewhere, 2000-3000 m, I doubt i can go higher. But it still would be a great adventure

I would love to volunteer as base camp. I don’t know how one would go about this-if you learn anything, please contact me!
