Worth visiting!

What I want to do at this place
If I survive this turducken thingie on the 25th, that’s what we’re going to do:
  • (most obvious spots, French quarter, jazz, swamps, plantation houses, food, etc)
  • visiting the cemetaries (with the secret hope of finding some voodoo people, I guess)
  • going to Mississippi for a couple of days (because)
  • contributing to global warming and energetic crisis with an old Cadillac (don’t think it can get more American than that)
  • (oh, no wait, it can) watching the Saints play at the Superdome.

All in less than 10 days.
Considering that C. wants to hook up with old friends he hasn’t seen in years, I think that maybe we must give up on something. Something tells me it’s going to be the Saints.

(not that I care, if badmington were the national sport I’d be willing to be talked into watching it: I just got my old-fashioned-paper tickets and I’m totally psyched!)

Exciting trip. Post-Katrina should be interesting, too. If you have time go check out the upper and lower 9th ward if you get a chance and report back.

Post-Katrina

I guess evidences of the devastation are pretty much everywhere. Few areas were spared.

Boyfriend’s family told me that they tend to steer clear from some areas, for a variety of reasons. I don’t know if they overreact or what, but being a guest I don’t want to push them if it makes them feel uncomfortable.

Let’s see when I get there. I’d love to be able to witness first-hand, of course.

PS It gave me again the 404 message when I tried to post this reply the first time, a couple of hours ago. And 43Pl homepage gave me a “Forbidden” error.

Yeah, I was getting the same errors on 43 Places yesterday. I talked to Ivan and Eric and one of thme managed to fix it from home. Have a good trip, Paola.

Badmitton: As American as Snazzleberry Pie

Don’t blame me, I voted for badmitton. I was a wicked good badmitton player in my day and damn upset our team did not get the cheerleaders/attention we deserved.

The very moment I pushed the "Save this comment" button

I could visualize a badminton player finding my entry and getting mad for my joke…

Promise I didn’t want to make fun of badminton, and promise, if we are ever in the same timezone, and you happen to play again, you get the loudest cheerleader you can think of!

New Orleans?

So you’re going to New Orleans?! I love that place. I haven’t been there post-Katrina, but I’m planning on heading down there sometime over the next 2 years.

I hope to read a full report upon your return. Take Care!

Woo Hoo! The Turducken Thing!

So you are going to try turducken! Sounds like you are going to have a very full trip. The only thing you are missing for a Cajun Thanksgiving experience is them doing the deep-fried turkey and burning the house down, which is not uncommon when frying a 20-pound bird in extremely flammable oil at high temperatures.

And a Cadillac. Convertible? How great! What an awesome time to look forward to. Have great fun.
