Nashville

Worth visiting!

A review of this place  — 2 years ago

I moved to nashville for a few months in 2005. I’m from NJ so it was a big change of pace obviously. You can rent a studio apartment for less than 400 within city limits. In NJ you can’t rent an apartment for less than 900. I hear there’s no income tax either, and obviously ciggarettes and car insurance are 10x cheaper down there. If I lived there again, I’d be able to spend less time working and more time doing things I want to do…I guess thats why 95% of the people I meet there are in a band and theres always parties going on.

The only problem is the punk scene isn’t the best, the 21+ scene is pretty much dead when it comes to street punk. Even some of the big bands who toured through nashville didn’t get a big turnout, so many of them have stopped going through. The biggest show I went to in nashville was Social Distortion, which was packed.

The one thing the scene had going for it was a venue called the Muse which put on local punk bands about once or twice a week. They only charged like $7 a ticket, and since the scene isn’t that big, they hardly ever sold tickets. But they constantly put the shows on anyway. Here in NJ its all about money, and no venue would bother putting on local bands if they weren’t getting huge. Its those kind of things that make the city really chill. Plus the barbeque food is amazing
