I plan on traveling to the island of Tobago between late May and mid-June. I am looking to experiance the culture of the island at its greatest, and was hoping you could provide some information on seeing the land from a minimalistic budget? After my flight, I will only have several hundred (US)dollars to spend, and so I was planning on backpacking around and camping out under the stars. Is it possible for one to find a secluded area and sleep out at night? What are the laws governing this sort of activity? I will not have enough money for a hotel every night, and I plan on staying for roughly one month. My primary intent is to live off local fruits and vegetables and fish for my meats. Are there fishing laws on Tobago? As far as cooking, are there restrictions on small open fires? I will be traveling with minimal gear in order to leave no impact on the landscape. I mainly plan to bring several changes of clothing, some personal care products, several books, a mask and a pair of fins, with some other small odds and ends, and a lightweight hammock. Do you have any suggestions? Any type of information would be greatly appreciated! you can email me at matthew.hummer@colorado.edu.
Thank you for your time,
Matt
