A review of this place: Oh. My. God.
For some time now, I’ve been meaning to go to this place. However, the only time I think of it is when I’m leaving House of Pies at three in the morning and I drive by. I finally dropped in today, and I’m so glad I did.
When you walk up to the counter, you’ll see where the place gets its name. The glass case is full of cakes that look like they’re from a childhood fantasy. There’s chocolate and vanilla and one with sprinkles and one with Oreos… They each have three layers, so they’re huge, too.
The cakes look like works of art, and they’re even served that way. I ordered a slice of French vanilla, and my dad ordered a slice of carrot cake. My plate came with white icing swirled all the way around, and my dad got a carrot made with green and orange icing. The slices were served standing up, which I found to be a pretty impressive balancing act.
Another thing that I love about this place is their TVs. They have five flat screen televisions that play footage of the cakes being mixed, iced, and decorated. It’s sort of hypnotizing.
I think it’s a little more expensive than House of Pies – $15 for two slices of cake, a coffee, and a glass of milk – but it’s definitely worth checking out.
