They have no voice

These woman and children are being brutally raped and beaten some even to death. It doesn’t seem as real because it’s so far away but we all need a wake up call! This is were my ancestors originated and I owe it to them as a black woman to care. Until I can do more my prayers go out to them each day day of my life.
May God be with them.

Do you think that the OAS can help?

Does the Organization of African States have the capacity to help stop the violence? Can the U.N. contribute any effective help?

What can we as Americans do?

How close is this tragedy to the country portrayed here?

P.S. Did any of you read “In the valley of the gun” and “Congo’s Daily Blood: Ruminations from a failed state,” by brayan Mealer, which have appeared in Harpers, in the May 2004 and April 2006 issues, respectively? Very compelling and detailed reportage.
