Long Beach Island

Worth visiting!

What used to be..  — 2 years ago

I remember Long Beach island long before the mansions went up..It was a relaxing shore community..I remember going to the trampolines in Surf City..I haven’t been back after we sold the house on LoveLadies..from what I understand it was bulldozed.

I remember sleeping in the shorehouse ..it was right near the water..and I would feel the mist of the ocean coming in the window and hear the ocean noise at night..I also have memories of collecting shells..and taking the metal detector to find bottlecaps..

Don't forget the Blue glass!

We used to find blue glass all over the bay side ! We used to clam with our toes before you had to go way out to avoid the pollution? Beach Parties every night and staying up afytrewards to catch the sunrise and the first and best surf of the day! I remember “tumbletown” the trampolines as well and the prams to sail on the bay . Le Garage disco and Joe Pops Shore Bar where Eddie and the Cruisers played as well as Tiny Tims wife Miss “something-or-other” ... Ann Higgins owned the lighthouse Restaurant and Maisy Hodes played at the hootnannys! We had two homes on the island . The fisrone was a Frank Lloyd Wright design and the second was a extreme peaked roof and became known as the “Pizza Hut” house…On the Bay side between Harvey Cedars and Loveladies! LBI always did and always will hold a special place in my heart as I met the love of my life there . Tracy (You know who you are) It was a time when we could actually hitch a ride with a surfboard under our arm! What a wonderful time in my lfe!
