I went to Austin for a convention. The downdown area was easy (enough) to navigate, and there was no need for a car. The bus system is $1 for 24 hours on any bus, which I thought was awesome. I took the bus to and from downtown, and walked to anything I wanted to see. I was busy with my conference most of the trip, and I’d definately take up an opportunity to go again and do the tourist thing.

Excellent!

I had a conference last year. I stayed at the San Jose Hotel on South Congress, and walked to the convention center (across the Bat Bridge) each morning. On the third day, I rented a bike and toured UT campus, Barton Creek and parts of loop 360. Parts of the city are very pretty.
