Why I want to go to this place

February is the month when one of the much-awaited Venetian events is held. The Venice Carnival revives the colourful masquerade balls and costume parties that took place in 18th century. Processions, masked balls, and other age-old Venetian traditions are held, and this celebration has been known to date back to the 13th century. Most of the city’s landmarks, such as St. Mark’s Square, the campi, the city’s various theatres, explode in colour and music, complete with theatrical performances, dances and acrobatic shows.

Wouldn't this be a dream ,

to walk the streets of Venice during this incredibly festive time of year…so many good books and movies have all had their best, and most exciting scenes played out in these very places….if it is written well, one could almost feel as though they had been there once before,..if not perhaps a very long time ago….(I was the one wrapped in oodles of raw silk, and old lace, hair piled atop my head, and mysteriously peering through a bejeweled mask, and colourful feathers)...ahh but I can still dream right ?.....I miss Venice something terrible, I truly do. :(

Ooo, Lucky Gal

Well, you are way ahead of me. I was in Venice once, when I was 16 and there was no festival in full tilt. Regretfully.

Ahh, but it was but a dream I am afraid!

...I was once there a couple years ago…but there was no Carnival…I simply dreamed that bit up with me in the lace and so forth….perhaps one day, ...give myself sometime to come up with a fabulous costume of some sort…but carnival , or no carnival, I shall return , as I adored every bit of this place….even if it was where I happened be foolish enough to loose all of my journal entries and notes of my trip through Europe etc….(I couldn’t have been more mad at my own stupidity)...but perhaps some passing bloke got a laugh out of reading them while on his journey, and then, in a very small way, not all was lost…
