Worth visiting!

this place is legendary...

...so why is mine the first entry? Oh the pressure to write something good! I’ve seen many bands at the Fillmore over the years. In fact, it’s the first venue I went to in San Francisco and I think it’s still my favorite. It’s not too big, just right for me. The atmosphere is nice inside. Though I’ve never taken advantage of it, the venue offers free apples. Finding parking is not too bad and if you want to meet the band to sign your CD, it’s pretty easy to do that too.

You're right . . .

The Fillmore is a super venue. I saw Jimmie Vaughan there and it was fantastic. And the poster was GREAT! I know they are famous for the posters, but are they still giving one away to everyone at the end of the show? It was eight years ago I was there.

free posters?

I’m not sure. I guess you have to be at the right place at the right time? I think the venue contracts someone to do the posters so the artist has no input and that both the Fillmore and the Warfield do this. I know I picked up a free poster at a Warfield gig and the artist wasn’t happy at all with the artwork ‘cos they had no input. I don’t think I ever got a free poster at the Fillmore. Then again, everytime I go to the Fillmore I focus on getting an autograph so I probably never notice the freebies!

posters

You couldn’t miss them at the Jimmie Vaughan show—they had people posted at both sides of all exits with big stacks, shoving posters into everyone’s hands. I got two.

So either they don’t do it any more, or they only do it for certain shows.

Now that I think about it, I did get a poster at Blur in 1997. I can’t say if they still give out posters as I haven’t seen a show there since 2002. Perhaps it is just for certain shows. I’ve seen about 8 shows there since 1994 and that Blur one in 97 was the only poster I ever got.
