Worth visiting!

I don't really like 43places so far...  — 1 year ago

I don’t really like 43places so far… Why? because I can’t be honest of what I write here. I can’t express myself honestly. I have to write everything in positive tone. Or else, certain people would come after me and demand that I change my writing to become positive and praising. There are certain people who can be very hysterical towards negative opinions, or too fanatical to certain ideas. I think that 43places.com does not have an open dialogue atmosphere that respects difference in opinion. That is why i rarely visit this website. It is full of praises that sometimes felt a bit too superficial. Of course praises are good for encouragement, but negative opinion should also be allowed as long as it is presented in an objective and non-fallacious manner, without personal attacks (ad hominem) or getting hysterical.

I’m just expressing my opinion here. Anyway I don’t think 43places loses anything with me retreating away from this website.

Oh BTW I like singapore where internet broadband is cheap and always available. The libraries here are filled with good books within your reach. It’s very clean and sterile for sure, which is good, because I can easily go to any clean toilet in town. I love the seafood here. Yep.

Comments:

Hi Rani

Nice to see that you’re back :-)

You must not be so easily disheartened, my dear girl, you have obviously not seen much of the rest of this site, I assure you that negative words and spirits abound and many of our fellow members do engage in very lively discussions and arguments from time to time (but discretion being the better part of valour, best to steer clear of them unless you like the sport :-)).

The difference between posting something negative and something positive is that the latter generates much more easily good feelings and goodwill, and in this world where many of us experience much stress and hardship in our daily lives, is a feeling very much appreciated. Positive comments also usually beget positive returns, quite normal don’t you think so?

Negative postings sometimes touch certain people personally and it is an Art to be able to post any criticism constructively. But one must have the conviction to stick to one’s guns and I do not see the problem with posting negative opinions or ideas as long as you’re ready to receive criticism in return and engage in a debate. Even positive postings sometimes turn really ugly, so really anything can happen!

So to continue, I was going to say that negative postings could of course turn ugly, or we could actually find it an enriching experience, it all depends on so many things e.g. the spirit of your interlocutors and the way you manage your own thread.

Just don’t give up, 43places could be very informative, though many people spend more time on the 43things and 43people part actually, it’s a place to meet different minds as well as like-minded ones.

Clean and sterile (but trendy and fashionable) toilets are my absolute favourites next to good food. What goes in must come out somehow and it is good for the digestion to know that you can have it done in the best of conditions. Enjoy them for me as over where I am now, they are hard to come by. Just sterile and clean (and costing 50 Euro cents each visit), but not beautifully designed as many public toilets in my dear Singapore are :-).

PS : Ditto for the seafood. Only when you don’t have it anymore (like moi here) will you stop taking it for granted!

Internet cheap and available

I don’t know if you were on wireless internet or not. That was neither cheap nor was it available.
