Seattle

Worth visiting!

A question about this place:
I'll be in Seattle October 14 & 15. Any ideas for an affordable place to stay that's really "Seattle"?  — 2 years ago

There is always the HI Hostel downtown. I suppose one can’t get any more “Seattle” than that. 29 USD for a bed or 69 USD for a single room. Although I know where it is, I’ve never stayed there since I live here, but I have stayed in many other hostels elsewhere. Added bonus of having lots of other travelers in the same building. And since you are downtown, there are buses everywhere, so it is easy to see the other neighborhoods.

The ACE HOTEL!! If you are at all interested in modern design and urban living (in a historic building downtown), that is super affordable, this is your only choice.

I’ve thought of staying there just to try it out…and I live here. I can’t wait to move so I can visit…

There’s an especially cool room that has a “hidden door” – the whole wall pivots to reveal the bathroom.

I second the Ace Hotel! I live only 2 blocks from this hotel but I actually DID stay here one night just to check it out. Very affordable, beautiful details everywhere, and they give you a bucket of beer when you check in.

no longer affordable—the cheapest rooms are $99, and the private bath ones are $160—may as well priceline a “real” hotel to save the money and just go out in the daytime like Seattle demands!

Yeah – I agree on the Moore. Great location, funky, non-smoking and affordable…

If want to spend money, get out to Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie – one of my favorite hotels in the world.

The Pensione Nichols is an inconspicuous, downtown bed and breakfast that’s close enough to walk to most of the sights, and is a wonderful sight in itself. I strongly encourage you to check it out. It’s a small place, the owners are very nice, and for the few day’s you’re there, you feel like family.

Also, the Pensione is right next to (well, technically behind) the Pink Door, a wonderful restaurant that is notoriously hard to find (hint: look down from the balcony; it’s the pink door).

Hotel Monaco all the way. It’s not really super cheap, but not expensive either. It’s located in the heart of downtown located across from the W and the public library. It’s walking distance to the Public Market, great restaurants, and the space needle if you want to see that. The rooms are decorated rather funky and theres even a goldfish in every room. Highly recommended.
