The King & I Thai Cuisine
Worth visiting!
The first time I went to this place — 2 years ago
I went to The King & I for the first time two weeks ago with my fiancée, as we wanted to try out a new restaurant and we’d heard good things. We ordered the Manager’s Special, which consisted of 3 appetizers (portioned for two), 2 entrées, and rice, for about $25 each. For appetizers, we ordered Salad Rolls (good, if a little bland), Crispy Tofu with spicy cucumber sauce (delicious!), and Thai Sticks (less like sticks and more like dumlings, but still very good); excellent portion size and nice presentation with four different sauces.
Our entrées were next, and boy, were they BIG. We ordered Sea Bass in chili jam (which was mind-bogglingly good), and of course Pad Thai, with an order of coconut rice. I’ve never had Pad Thai before, but it was pretty good, if not at all as spicy as I thought it would be (and I think it could have used more bean sprouts). The food was all good, but the two dishes (and the rice) were all varying degrees of sweet, and I could really have gone for some more sour, spicy, or salt, but that was our mis-ordering and not a drag on the restaurant. We had so much at the end we brought about 1/3 of the sea bass and 2/3 of the Pad Thai home, and they made for delicious leftovers when warmed up. It’s a little pricy for two students, but I’d highly recommend The King & I – especially the Sea Bass.
