You’re right about the Monte Carlo, it has the least smoky casino on the Strip! I love that aspect of the place. :)

I would also agree with Monte Carlo, it’s been a little while but the last time I was there I was able to play $2 black jack…I think it bumps up to $5 on friday/saturday nights though…but don’t hold me to that.
Downtown also has some good low limit games. Plus it’s an experience quite different from the strip.

I vote that you go to downtown to Four Queens. Its a great spot to play low stakes and you can see the Freemont Street Experience.

I agree with Peggy. I love playing slots on the Strip, and all the excitement, but gambling is infinitely better downtown in the older part of Vegas. Four Queens, Binion’s, etc. have lower minimums, a lot fewer distractions, and decent payoffs. For an example on the payoffs, I love the Las Vegas Hilton, but in their Spacequest casino, they don’t pay one-and-a-half on your blackjack. Watch out for that. And if you really like to play craps, go downtown (esp Binion’s) where you can find odds behind the line very attractive. Good luck!

believe it or not, bellagio has one $5 table for blackjack.(!) i actually won’t a little bit of cash.
casinos on fremont street has one and two deck black jack tables, which you won’t find on the strip. (which is mostly 6 deck tables) there are some $1-$2 tables in downtown as well.

Also, you may want to give Pai gow poker a try. The odds are even (the house get a small percentage of your win – that’s the only advantage they have on you) and most hands result in a push. As a result, you can make a few bucks ride a very long time at a Pai gow table.
Also, most places with Hold ‘em usually have lessons which lead into a $1-$2 game which is also a cheap way to let your money ride for a while.

While it’s no where near the strip, the best place is Sams Town (http://www.samstownlv.com/main.cfm). You can actually play single deck blackjack there.
Have fun.

Low budget gambling can be best had at some of the smaller Casinos on the strip, like O’Shea’s, Casino Royale, or Imperial Palace… All of these places will spread low dollar blackjack and craps, so you’ll be able to play within your limits.
You can find the same thing at the downtown Casinos. 4 Queens, Binion’s, and the Golden Nugget will all offer low limits.
You may be able to find $5 blackjack at some of the larger strip properties on weekdays, especially early in the day, but later in the day (toward evening), they tend to raise the limits. Also, the closer you get to the weekend, the harder it’ll be to find low limits at the major properties. (Weekends generally start Thursday evening… You’ll see the crowds picking up.)
You should get a book on Craps prior to your trip. I enjoy Blackjack too, but Craps is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. The Craps pit is always the loudest part of the Casino. It can be a very intimidating game, because of the complexity of the table, but most casinos will offer lessons in the mornings, and the dealers will be happy to help you out with any questions. It’s worth your time.

casino royal – its very old, but so casual… the tables are cheap and you can often find a good fun crowd of people playing.

My husband and I found $5 tables at almost every casino we went to (which was almost all on the strip). Have heard downtown (Freemont Street) can be cheaper with $2 tables, didn’t make it there. As long as you stick with the traditional blackjack strategy, and take advantage of any “double down” or “split” opportunities, you’ll have fun.

I think some of the hotels that have cheaper tables are Treasure Island or Flamingo. The older ones ususally. Bellagio and Venetian are pretty high end tables but once in a blue moon(usually middle of the night) you will find a $5 table. I have been to the $2 tables down in freemont (old vegas) but I have to say I rather loose a little more for cleanliness and quality of people.
We had a guy harass us at “the plaza” and I mean enought for him to get dragged out of the hotel by a cop and arrested. I have never gone back since.
I still have friends that go there just for the $2tables. Is the only place to find them.
Have fun!!!!! PS I also recommend gambling in the middle of the night there are no crowds and tables are usually cheaper at that time.
