Worth visiting!
Untitled
A beautiful little village with alot of history, which goes back as far as the Domsday Book. There is a woman buried at the main church who was murdered by jack the ripper in his days. The bridgewater canal runs through the village, and also there is a picturesque dam to visit (Lymm Dam) which is divided into an upper and lower dam(the upper being the main attraction). There is a cross in the centre of the village which is made of sandstone, and is thought to be one of Lymm’s main attractions. Many festivals take place in Lymm throughout the year such as: Lymm May Queen(Mid June) the Lymm Festival which runs throughout July, and Lymm Dickensian Day which takes place in december. Also Lymm is one of the very few places to continue the tradition of rush bearing. There is also the easter duck race which takes place annually around easter time, and local families and people gather around the cross in the centre of the village on Christmas Eve for carol singing.
Lymm has been home to a number of celebrities over the years, including Bobbie Charlton, and Matthew Corbett(the guy who did the children’s tv show “Sooty and Sweep”) who is very well settled as a local in the village.
Lymm has an awful lot to offer, there is always something going on, so much is crammed into this little country village. There are many highly commended restaurants here: italian, turkish, french, indian, thai, cantonese, chinese, and your typical english fish and chip shop.
