Ah, I think you’ve touched on what I disliked so much.
I lived there only for six months in 2001. It might have been the anthrax or W. or me, but DC bummed me out. There were certain things I loved about it but it depressed me to live in this place where the disparity between the powerful and privileged and the utterly powerless and poor was so extreme and so constantly present. It depressed me. And the weather was not fun. And I lived just far enough from the metro to make it a pain in the ass to do anything.
