I saw a program on the building of this Ice Hotel (I think it may have been on the Discovery Channel) and I thought it truly amazing that the entire hotel is made out of ice! They actually select professional ice sculptors from all around the world every year to help design and build this amazing hotel.

They start with making snow and ice and using some large ice blocks that they cut out of a frozen river from the year before and have kept frozen. The hotel usually open in January and only stays open until April when the sun starts getting too strong and begins to melt it. And every year they rebuild it again!

My friend runs a charter bus company and makes a trip there each year. I missed it this year, but am planning on going next year. One night in the hotel is about $600 minimum, but that would be so neat!! Here is their link if want to check it out, http://www.icehotel-canada.com
