Not worth visiting!

I love the name.

In the early nineties I flew to Memphis with two friends to tour Graceland. Then we drove to Nashville for a conference. Along the way, we saw a sign for Bucksnort. We did not have a camera, nor did we stop. That name stuck with me all these years. As we traveled across the US I wondered if we would pass Bucksnort again. I mentioned it so often the kids were sick of me.

Late Saturday night we did see the sign and the exit. I was so excited, plus now Paulette and I can say “We’ll always have Bucksnort”. I found this link to Bucksnort Trout Ranch, located right in Bucksnort, Tennessee.

I saw another sign this time for Toad Suck Park in Arkansas. I was too slow to get a picture. Here is the description. The flush toilets caught my attention.

  • A Class A Park with flush toilets, showers, trailer dump stations, visitor assistance, designated tent and trailer space, trash containers, drinking water, playground, and boat ramp. Picnic shelters are available for reservation January 1- December 31.

Love the name, too

I came across the name of this town in a news article today, and just had to add it to the 43 list of weird or funny place names….then read your entry and continued to laugh at “We’ll always have Bucksnort!”

I have applied for an internship in Knoxville for next fall. If I get it, I shall have to plan on a trip to Bucksnort and Toad Suck, too!

Best wishes,
Pat
