Not worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

As far as we could tell, there is only one restaurant both reasonably priced and good: a pizza place on the western edge of town, south side of the main east/west road, with picnic tables outside and a pesto and chicken pizza that I still crave to this day. (The lack of decent eating out was rather mysterious, seeing as how people do actually live there and must therefore need sustenance at some point.)

Good food

I beg to differ with you. I’ve been to Jackson several times and have always had good food. Jedediah’s is a great breakfast joint just off of the town square, and Mountain High Pizza is amazing. Also, the Snake River Brewery is a good place to eat and have a few beers. That’s my experience anyway.

Food for foodies and backpackers

Just ask a local when you visit a town like Jackson. I’ve lived here for 12 years, and yes, this place is heavy on the high-end, dinner-only, gotta-drop-100-bones-to-eat-here places (but if you want an eating experience/splurge, there’s some damn good food here). Nonetheless, there are a number of places that are great for inexpensive eating, like NY City Sub and D.O.G. (Down on Glen), Jed’s, Bubba’s (a tourist trap in the summer but great BBQ), Chinatown, Hard Drive Cafe, Merry Piglets, El Abuelito (and a bunch of other great Mexican and Guatemalan places), Teton Thai, Horse Creek Station, et.al. (Personally, I think Mountain High is ridiculously overpriced).
