I give up
If I don’t get killed by islamist extremists for having blue eyes an Israeli airstrike is bound to do me in.
Beirut, I’d love to see you, but I’m afraid it’ll have to be in another lifetime.

I often think about how excellent it would be to study at the American University of Beirut if I could afford to study abroad for a while, and I have often visited it’s website. But really, it’s too much of an unstable part of the world now.

I do understand about not wanting to jump into firing range.
But I think you have some strange notions about Lebanon. First, in certain parts of the middle east, light eyes are not uncommon. Green, hazel, blue, etc.
Second, it’s the Israelis and Hezbollah (which is not the ruling party, and is actually the militant arm of just one party). Hezbollah are backed by Syria because Syria is losing it’s grip in Lebanon, politically, so can gain it back by prompting war, and Iran backs Hezbollah. No one is interested in you, just interested in causing more instability in the region. Religion is just an excuse. There are many Christians in Lebanon, and none have been targetted.

the Israeli airstrike, ok, makes sense but also depends greatly on where you live and where you’re driving!!
But blue eyes?? Seriously?? No one kills anyone here, especially not over the color of their eyes!! Come on… you’d be surprised at the kind of life and people you’d come across here. Truly amazing…...it’s a shame though.. The bight side is that, we’re so good at rebuilding ourselves!!
