Worth visiting!

Question: suggestions for a restaurant  — 2 years ago

i am trying to find a restaurant for a little dinner type thing with some friends…
it will be on a monday night and there might be anywhere from five people to 15 people [and i probably won’t know until everyone’s there]... so basically a place that’s big enough that you don’t need reservations and they won’t care how many people do/don’t show up. also, centrally located and not too expensive. oh – and of course the food should be super tasty.
i was originally going to do this at shanghai garden but there is a stupid baseball game at 7 that day and i worry that some friends might not be up for dealing with ID traffic/congestion.
any ideas?

If convenience and ability to deal with a volatile party size are your main concerns, the restaurant that dealt with this best most recently, for me, was Wasabi Bistro in Belltown…

I realize not everyone feels this has the best Japanese food, but it’s good enough; and I did find the restaurant very accomodating for parties of unknown size. They didn’t confuse bills at all or anything.

I’m not sure what you mean by “too expensive.” Wasabi Bistro isn’t cheap—but it’s not a five star restaurant either. Is that alright?

Implied YMMV, of course.

(I didn’t want to be the umpteenth person to recommend the Elysian Brewery, which would be too easy an answer. ;) )

hey – thanks for the suggestion – i never would have considered wasabi bistro. so i’ll add it to the list of contenders.

and if you can believe this – i have had the worst luck at the elysian with big parties. cold food, the wrong food and really spotty service. so for the last year or two i’ve stuck with four or fewer people and everything is fabulous and tasty and wonderful.
