I would say anytime beetween May and September. If you are culturally interested, I suggest visiting in mid August. This is normally the time for the famous Erfurter DomStufen-Festspiele.

Thanks for your suggestions wanderingphilospher! Our daughter will be studying at the Universität Erfurt from October 05 – July 06 so we will not be visiting in August! We are aiming – likely to be around April (around Easter) or May of next year.
