Edinburgh International Festival

i lived in edinburgh for eleven months and the one month i had to miss was August. :( so of course i heard all sorts of wonderful things about the edinburgh festival (particularly the film festival) and have been dying to get back there ever since.

can’t go this year either, but i might aim for ‘07 or ‘08.

Comments:

You didn’t miss much:)

I mean that, as an Edinburgh resident, I don’t really enjoy the Festival. Of course it is the one month of the year when there is a lot happening in town. So most people do enjoy August in Edinburgh, it’s just that I’m a grumpy old man.

What were you doing in Edinburgh?

grumpy old man, perhaps August is a good time for a trip out into the country for you. ;p

mostly i was in edinburgh to take some classes at the University. but i also did some geneology research on the side, which eventually took me to South Uist.

i was able to see a lot of the country that year and have concluded that Scotland is a gorgeous and marvelous place. if i couldn’t live in Alaska, i would move there in a heartbeat.

I believe that certain people do that. You can make a lot of money renting your flat for that month.

that's a good point

i’ll have to keep that in mind when i’m looking for a flat to rent for a month next year. :)

also, if you know of any people so inclined, or networks of such people, i’d love to hear about them. not that i can afford to spend an arm and a leg, but staying in a flat for the whole month would be much preferable to a hotel for a two weeks.

Just saw a leaflet in the library for edlets.
