Worth visiting!

I have been driving to Bothell..

on a daily basis this week. My in laws are 92 and this is where they live. Looks like I’ll be spending more & more of my time up while we help them transition into the next phase of their life. (driving is no longer an option for them) I remember the sign that was mentioned in a previous entry , it was funny when some mischievous kids painted over the Bot so that the sign said ‘Welcome to hell, for a day or a lifetime” :- )
I like the quirky life sized plywood cutouts of local merchants on Main Street and the colourful banners on the electrical poles.

That's quite a drive...

from Burien to Bothell. Especially daily! Bless you for helping take care of the in-laws. They are fortunate to have you. I hope their transition is going smoothly – are they moving? While you are taking care of them remember to take care of yourself too.

Thanks Carm,...

this situation is now to the point that my f-i-l has decided it’s time to move. We tried to suggest this 2 months ago when he was in better health but he was adamantly opposed to the idea.
It’s amazing how quickly things can change in 2 months once your health starts to fail. I feel bad for both of them & am glad that I am able to be there for them at this stage of their life. At least my kids are on their own so I can focus on my in laws.

I'm sorry...

your father-in-law’s health is failing. I am glad though that he finally saw the light about the need to move. I’m sure it’s very difficult to admit one needs more help than before. You are doing a good thing. I just hope it doesn’t wear you out too much!

Well so far so good!

My f-i-l keeps falling in the middle of the night and my m-i-l can’t help him up so they rely on 9-1-1 to assist. I asked him why he keeps getting up and it so he can go to the bathroom. I suggested Depends saying that if they are good enough for astronauts, why not him? He thought that was pretty funny and said he’d think about it. I picked some up that night & when I returned the next day to take my m-i-l to her Dr appointment , I told my f-i-l that I had something for him in the bag. I had included his favorite candy bars, mini milky ways. Upon returning , he thought that it was a “pun” that I had included the Milky ways with the astronauts attire!

That is too funny!!

Wow, I’m glad to hear your f-i-l has a sense of humor. That’s hysterical!

That falling stuff is scary though. My mother had some problems with that too for a while. You just never know what kind of injury they might have from the next fall.

I don’t blame him for resisting Depends though. I would too, especially if my problem was not my bladder. Have you seen those potty chairs you can put right next to the bed so they don’t have to go far in the middle of the night? Some people swear by them. But I don’t know if that’s enough to keep him safe.

I’m still chuckling about the Milky Ways…
