I have fond memories of growing up in Nisqually Valley. The Wildlife Refuge was put into place after I moved away. I don’t live too far away to visit, I just haven’t gotten down there yet. I’ll definitely have to go there soon.

is a very good question! I have wondered that myself. In looking around at profiles I see a few that are also marked “Local ambassador” or just “Local”.
I was wondering if maybe it meant I posted a certain number of entries on local places? But I’m just guessing.
You got me curious though so I sent an email to the Robots to ask about it. If they get back to me I’ll let you know what they say.

I got an email from Daniel this morning. He is always so helpful! Here is what he had to say:
“Thanks for writing. These badges on 43 Places are rewards for writing entries, helping others by answering questions, uploading photos, cheering, etc. There are no specific privileges associated with the badges, they just kick in after a certain amount of activity on the 43 Places. I believe the order goes Local Guide, Local Ambassador, Honorary Mayor. And I have to be honest, I don’t recall what it takes to achieve each level—it’s automatically built into the site.”
Mystery solved. :)

I can’t really say “mystery solved.” I’m still rather confused. In fact there are many things about 43T/P that should be deemed mysterious.
To be honest with you, since I rarely see the “local guide” badge I thought until you mentioned it that no one could see that but me. Kinda like the emperor’s new clothes, yeah?
Even now that Daniel has explained it I continue to be confused. As I look around at my friends’ profiles, many of them who have been MUCH more active than me, especially on 43Places, they don’t seem to have badges but I do?
Perhaps this is a mystery buried so deep one would have to be Indiana Jones to find it. Like the cheer algorithm another Holy Grail waiting to be unearthed…
