The day we climbed the Acropolis, it was 108 degrees F! The tour guide gave us all water so we wouldn’t pass out on the way up, but it was WELL worth the heat!

You must have been there on or around the same day we went since it is rare for Athens to get that hot; when we were there around June 27, Athens was having a once-every-ten-years heat wave.

Did anyone tell you that was a rare heatwave? The people we met said their pet name for it is “the Libyan Express” since it comes right off the desert and into Greece. It was 118 the day we visited and the Greeks just looked at us as if we were insane when we told them we had gone to the Acropolis in that heat.
