Burns Lake

Am heading through Prince George at the end of 2005, on way to celebrate either in Big White, or Burns Lake, somewhere in the middle of British Columbia. Can’t wait. Hope it’s cold.

PG is my home

Noticed you mentioned you’ll be visiting PG. As a medical student you may be interested in visiting the local university – UNBC recently opened a medical school (strong focus on rural health) in partnership with UBC. It’s an innovative program and among the first of its kind worldwide. So visit the campus and the medical school if you can – the campus is beautiful. Places I recommend to eat – Cimo’s Mediterranean Grill (carbonara), North 64, Ric’s Grill, Amigo’s Taco Shop (chicken soft taco or chicken especial), and Thanh Vu ( love the chicken hot & sour soup). Cool places to relax inculde Cafe Voltaire at Books & Company and lots of great pubs. If your’re in PG towards the end of the year it will be cold – lots of outdoor recreational things to do (skiing etc), but you could also check out the Two Rivers Art Gallery if looking for something warmer. PG isn’t a big city (i.e. there is no high fashion shopping), but the people are welcoming and friendly and there are some gems to be enjoyed!

Thanks for the tips! Am not yet a medical student, but would love the chance to have a visit the medical school, and the rural medicine sounds like a very interesting focus. Will probably be whistled around by my friends there, but if I’ve got some spare time… Anyway, it will be around new year, so everything will probably be closed.

Am very excited about the trip. I’ve wanted to go to Canada for ages, and I am a huge fan of coldness, mountains, and wilderness: all in abundance in Canada. I can warm up with your recommended Taco action.

Thanks!
