Kazu

The last time I went to this place  — 2 years ago

The last time I went to this place… it was a farewell party for a Japanese exchange student who was going back to Japan.
KAZU HAS REALLY NICE FOOD!

And also we met Kazu himself, Kazu is the guy who owns the restaurant & also the Kazu Yaki-tori Bar.
They seriously have really nice japanese food, go there sometime!

Aranya's House

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

i actually recommend this place to just about anyone. it is the best thai in town. a few years ago when it first opened the meals were huge and ridiculously cheap…like $7 for a red curry or pad thai. Now prices have gone up (just a wee bit) and the meals are a bit smaller but this is still the best thai in town.

Chocolate Fish Cafe

Not worth it!

LOTR made it overrated  — 2 years ago

only worth going to take a picture of the “waiters crossing” sign, that is if you’re into collecting pictures of unusual signs

Weta Workshop

Not worth it!

I didn't go inside  — 2 years ago

Just drove by and took a picture of the sign with a Weta. The place is small and nothing to write home about. It is however curiously smack in the middle of a residential area.

Petone

Worth visiting!

Petone  — 2 years ago

Famed for there yearly petone fair in which the main street is blocked off and is lined with stalls selling foods , crafts , art clothes and all sorts of fun stuff . Year round petone is a bustling suburb , full with cafe’s resturants and boutique busineses ranging from clothing stores to interior decorating outlets . Home also to some of wellingtons best thrift stores and a pretty beach perfect for swimming , wallking , running , kayaking , jet skiing and picknicking.

Karori Wildlife Sanctuary

Worth visiting!

A gorgeous green oasis just ouside an urban oasis.  — 2 years ago

Just a 15 minute bus ride outside the city center will get you to a completely different universe, practically. Everyone who visits Wellington should absolutely take a day hike here. It’s mainly a wildlife sanctuary for rarer birds, although it’s also one of the most amazing, lush parks you’ll ever encounter in the world.

Te Papa

Average. I wasn’t super impressed. It’s a large museum (by NZ standards) but it just didn’t hit that sweet spot with me.

Istana Malaysian Restaurant

Worth visiting!

Istana Malaysian Restaurant  — 2 years ago

We’d never had Malaysian and this place was a good place to start in the very cool section of Wellingtom called Cortenay. This was the first restaurant I’d seen that has wireless server things on the table where you can hit a button for order, drink, bill, etc. The waiter said it would charge the table 5 dollars with each button press (a joke of course). The food was very good and a lot like Indian food with lots of currys. Yum.

Botanic Gardens

Worth visiting!

Went to one of the Summer City concerts...  — 2 years ago

A great end to an absolutely perfect summer day. We sat in the Botanic Gardens and had a picnic before the concert. The music was jazz, which was relaxing and fun to listen to. As it got darker, the trees and shrubs were illuminated with coloured lights which looked really pretty. If you are in Wellington, or will be visiting, you have one more wek to make it to the concerts. Definitely worth doing!
